Sphere
04:00
|
|||
there are no corners of a sphere
not even a slightly misshapen one like we’re in
so can you imagine how it must feel
to be told to roll up your sleeves, for you are just one man
I am just one man
and everything that I might find
alternates between absurd and absolute
carefully keeping in mind
beauty is the line between meaning and truth
Give me time, give me several lifetimes (or)
let me see
that there is someone beside me
it is the time, it is the place
the reason no-one’s stepped forth with the lottery
details we cannot explain
(because) we remain in liminality
betwixt and between
will I respectfully deny
will I choose left, not knowing where I’ll go from here
will I refuse to be confined
when I last checked, there were no degrees in sphere
Give me time, give me several lifetimes (or)
let me see
that there is someone beside me

John Steinbeck

Every time I look in the mirror/I’m the oldest I’ve ever been
every time I think of you I wonder/ if I’ve found and lost the thousandth friend
and if I need you to know myself/then are you the means to an end?
I spend my days waiting at the places/watching families unite again
poetry and philosophy, Kipling and Kant
bittersweetly I read to know what I want
and if I am called upon to wander, will there ever be a where and when?
and am I stronger for being a stranger, or is this a false I.D. of sentiment
and if blood is thicker than water/why do I identify with them?
wonder if I could ever find an island, and if that would bring me contentment or resentment
restless balance(s) disconnect
time (and its devices) goes by unchecked

August
03:48
|

it's August, and it's autumn, what's happening around here
it seems most everything is changing, I know it happens every year
but all the same
it always seems to happen to someone else, until they call your name
everything is relative, we're all just trying to live the best we can
but me, I'm trying to be the better man
but how begun
you must first become, to be the better one
I need time to grow, and know how to
miss and love and believe, and if you see a
prodigal son, knocking at your door, well it's probably me
we're all just simple fools, and yet it's never black and white
maybe it's cause no-one ever sees the world the same way twice
but after all
you look up at the stars, it makes everyone feel small
there will be time to rest, and time to muse
amidst the mess, and among the confusion, we are breaking the illusion
but even so
there is a time under heaven and the sun, to change this static
I found time to turn around, and learn how to
miss and love and believe, and if you see a
prodigal son, knocking at your door, well it's probably me

Stay
03:14
|
|||
Sometimes I wish this heart would stop
So I could get some sleep
Blood’s pulsing in my ears
An incessant, internal beat
Other times I feel so alive
I don’t even know where to start
And I wonder how ever I could wish
To still this beating heart
Stay with me, and you’ll see
how to breathe life
When blood flows through these arteries
It misses extremities
And I need something to compensate for lack of body heat
That’s where you come in,
You lie down next to me
You put your hands inside my hands and wrap
Your feet around my feet
Stay with me, please
and you will see
You are my absolute zero
You are my high as a kite
You are my pendulum, baby
And if we time it just right
You are electricity, baby
I’m putting out streetlights
Static is overflowing and
I just can’t keep it inside
Stay with me, please
tonight

Tree
03:23
|
|||
hey
what can I say?
I'm just a tree
you see me all the time
I've had love carved into my bark,
turn into broken hearts during dark
yet here I am
hey
what can I do?
if I fall in the forest, and you're not there to hear
does it mean anything to you?
I've seen wise men lose their way,
felt the earth change in a single day
yet here I stand
hey
I am a tree
I have dug my roots
deep
I was once held in the palm of your hand
now I hold your grandchildren in my branches
